About Labradoodles
The Labradoodle was first developed in Australia specifically for the blind. This breed was not created on a whim, it was developed with serious thought and purpose. It was developed with the intention of creating a companion for the blind, a guide dog that could be used by blind people who suffer from allergies to canine hair. The combination of a Standard Poodle and a Labrador Retriever trained as a guide dog was hoped to produce a dog that would have the non-shedding, hypoallergenic coat of a poodle with the characteristics of the Labrador, steady and calm, eager to please and easy to train.Over the years breeding practices expanded to create the personality and traits, both physical and mental, that were required of an assistance dog. What has been accomplish over many years is a dog whom has such amazing intuition and human like qualities, a dog who lives to take care of its human companions with a calm and steady demeanor; and all the while, not shedding or causing allergies. Any owner of a Labradoodle will attest to the smart, soft spirit of these dogs.
Australian Labradoodle Coats should be Woolly, Curly, Curly Fleece, and Fleece; these are non-shedding and allergy friendly.
Colors can vary from Black to Cream, Chocolate, Apricot, and Red.
